While the Dominican Republic may be geographically closer to the rest of the USA than Puerto Rico, it’s essential to recognize that it is still a foreign country with specific regulations and requirements. That’s where our team of licensed international movers comes in. We have the knowledge and expertise to navigate the complexities of moving to the Dominican Republic, ensuring a hassle-free experience for you.

International Household Movers

Given the warm climate of the Dominican Republic, it’s essential to pack accordingly. Thick blankets and heavy coats may not be necessary, but it’s crucial to consider what you will need in your new home. Rest assured, our team is here to guide you through the process and ensure you make the right decisions.

International Car Shipping to the D.R.

Are you looking to ship your car to the Dominican Republic? Look no further! We are here to make the process smooth and hassle-free.

Good news! Duty-free import is possible for your car if you have owned it for at least twelve months and purchased it two years ago. It’s important to note that luxury cars and motor vehicles with more than six cylinders or exceeding 2,000cc are not allowed for import.

In case you don’t qualify for the tax exemption, don’t worry! You can still import your car, but there will be a charge of 20% of the car’s value, which includes shipping and insurance costs. To ensure peace of mind during the ocean transit, it’s essential to have insurance for your car, as damage may occur.

Speaking of insurance, please remember that shipping insurance is different from regular insurance. It’s advisable to insure your car for its current value in the Dominican Republic.

If you have other vehicles to ship, such as motorcycles, we can assist with that too! Motorcycles should be securely crated within a shipping container. Additionally, it’s important to have a valid motorcycle license if you plan to send one.

With the Dominican Republic boasting a modern road infrastructure, specialty cars are not necessary unless you have a personal preference for them.

Rest assured, our team is well-equipped to handle the logistics of shipping your car or other vehicles to the Dominican Republic, ensuring a smooth and reliable process.

International Shipping Options

When it comes to international shipping options to the Dominican Republic, we provide you with reliable and efficient solutions tailored to your needs.

Our sea shipments to the Dominican Republic enter through the Caucedo Port, conveniently located near Santo Domingo. This port boasts modern container and customs clearance facilities, ensuring a smooth and seamless process. For those with final delivery destinations on the north shore, rest assured that your shipment will also pass through this port and be promptly delivered to your home via truck.

One of the preferred options for international shipping to the Dominican Republic is containerized shipments. While not everyone opts for Full Container Loads (FCL), the majority of our clients find it to be the most suitable choice. While Less than Full Container Loads (LCL) are available, it may not be the most cost-effective option for most clients.

The Dominican Republic is a location where sending a full container load makes much more sense, as the overall cost of a partial shipment can quickly approach that of a 20′ container. Therefore, we recommend considering a full container load to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

If you plan to send a vehicle along with your household goods, we suggest including it in a 40′ container. For boats that cannot fit within a container, we offer an alternative method known as Roll On Roll Off (RORO).

Rest assured, our team is experienced in handling various shipping methods and will guide you in selecting the most suitable option for your specific requirements.

How Much Does It Cost to Move to D.C.?

The cost of moving to the Dominican Republic depends on several factors including the volume of belongings being moved, the distance of the move, and any additional services required. For instance, moving a 4-bedroom apartment will generally cost more than moving a single studio.

Rest assured, our dedicated logistics experts will work closely with you to assess all the relevant factors pertaining to your specific shipment. Based on this assessment, we will provide you with a custom quote tailored to your unique moving needs.

How Long Does It Take to Move to the Dominican Republic?

As for the duration of the move to the Dominican Republic, most household removals are typically conducted by sea due to its cost-effectiveness. Ocean freight shipments typically take between 6 to 8 weeks to reach their destination.

Alternatively, if you require a faster shipping method, international removal by air is available, although it is generally the most expensive option. Air freight can typically deliver your belongings in 5 to 7 days. However, the exact timeframe will depend on flight availability and your final destination within the Dominican Republic.

Rest assured, regardless of the shipping method you choose, our team will ensure a smooth and efficient process to get your belongings to the Dominican Republic in a timely manner.

Popular Moving Destinations in the D.R.

When it comes to individuals moving to the Dominican Republic from the USA, we often see two main groups emerge. The first group comprises nearly half of the movers, who are Dominican Republic citizens that have spent a few years in the USA and are now returning to be reunited with their families. It’s a heartwarming moment when loved ones can come together again in their home country.

The second group, consisting of the majority of the remaining movers, consists of retirees who choose the Dominican Republic as their new home. The country offers an affordable cost of living and provides a straightforward path to permanent residence. Additionally, its proximity to the United States makes it incredibly convenient for retirees to visit their families or have them come to the Dominican Republic for visits. The ease of travel and the ability to maintain strong family connections make the Dominican Republic an attractive destination for retirement.

Over the years, many individuals who have lived in the United States have been able to afford comfortable homes in the Dominican Republic. Our clients have relocated to various destinations throughout the country, and we are proud to offer delivery services that are available everywhere.

No matter which group you belong to, we understand the importance of a smooth and seamless transition to your new home in the Dominican Republic. Our team is dedicated to providing you with exceptional service and support throughout the entire moving process.
