How to Inspect Your Car

The first thing you must do is inspect your vehicle for damage once it is delivered. This is something that must be done before you you sign for the delivery of the vehicle. Failure to do so may result in the inability to take action if you do find damage to your car later.

Look for dents and scratches in well-lit areas. Also, check under both the rear and front bumper of the car to look for signs of impact. This may prove that your car was hit or ran into another vehicle during international travel.

What to Do Immediately If Your Car is Damaged

If you determine that your car was damaged during shipping, it is important to report all damage to the shipping company. Vehicle shipping companies want proof of damage, as well as other documents. To get proof, take pictures of all the damage that was done to the vehicle during transport. The company is also going to ask for a Bill of Landing.

If the transportation company is satisfied with the information you provide to it, it will ask for a repair quote from different body shops. Typically, one quote is not enough. Most companies want at least two or three. If it is a professional vehicle moving company, it will want to solve this problem with you as quickly as possible.

What to Do If The Moving Shipping Company Refuses to Fix the Damage

If the moving company refuses to fix the damages, you have a few options. First, you can take the company to a small claims court. This is usually only done for damage that is valued under $500. If the damage is more than that, you may have a bigger case on your hands. It is also important to report this issue to the Better Business Bureau.

By doing this, you can file a complaint against the company, which may hurt its standings with the BBB. Always try to work it out with the vehicle shipping company first because most are more than willing to work with you to solve the problem.
