Living in Ukraine
If you’re moving to Ukraine, you’ve chosen a great country to start over with. Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe and has grown as a popular tourist destination over the past few years. Here are a few tips to help you on your move to Ukraine:
- Always keep a close eye on your personal belongings.
Petty theft and pickpocketing is common and any valuables such as jewelry, wallets, and cell phones should be locked and buttoned down while traveling by public transportation.
- Use caution when driving.
Driving can be dangerous since most Ukrainians don’t wear seatbelts and there is barely any enforcement towards road traffic and/or safety rules. Always wear your seatbelt (this goes without saying), don’t get into a cab if you don’t feel safe, avoid traveling at night, and keep emergency phone numbers saved on your phone.
- Arrival and living in Ukraine.
As expected, everything will be different in the beginning and you are sure to feel homesick and a bit stressed for the first few months. Understand that this is normal and allow yourself to relax and enjoy your new home.
